Wet rooms for disabled people and disabled bathroom installations.

Adapting an existing bathroom for use by a disabled or older person who is living at home is of enormous help and gives greater independence and safety. As people age and movement becomes more restricted, having a bathroom or shower-room that meets their needs is essential to prevent discomfort and potential accidents.

If you require a full wet room where the whole room is waterproofed and self-contained – this is a complex job – and only experienced contractors should be trusted with the work. In essence a wet room, or shower room, is where there is no bath and no shower tray, but the water drains through the floor. For a disabled person this is an advantage because there are no steps or doorways to manoeuvre around, no edges, trips or obstacles.

We make our disabled bathrooms look smart as well as functional

It may be possible to have a shower-room (This depends on the layout and condition of the room and whether the floors are concrete or wooden), where the bath is replaced by an easy access shower with a low tray. The shower is fitted with easy-grip controls and the heat of the water is limited. These showers can be fitted with grips to help retain balance, non-slip flooring and a fold-away seat.

The w.c. is similarly adapted by raising the height, fitting lever flush and again grips to help manoeuvring.

One of the points that we try and achieve is making the bathroom look smart as well as functional, avoiding making the whole thing look like it has been lifted from a hospital. We are only a phone call away and a consultation costs nothing and there are no follow-up calls or sales calls unless you want to hear from us. We are a local Company and have been established for over 25 years.

At Reeves we begin by designing the wet room or bathroom around the person who is going to use it, by doing so we can ensure that their needs and preferences are taken fully into account.

We can source all the furniture – sanitary ware, wall tiles, non-slip flooring and of course look after the bathroom / wet room installation.

Grip rails are fitted in all the correct places for the individual so the room is bespoke to the users’ needs and the WC/toilet and bidet were fixed at the optimal position as near each other and often with the hidden cistern behind the wall tiles.

If you require alterations to your home to accommodate the new bathroom then we have the experience and skills to undertake these changes for you as well.

It may be that you wish to convert a garage into a self-contained bathroom / wet-room – this is something we have undertaken on a number of occasions. See garage conversions by clicking here. This work seldom requires planning permission and offers a good use of often untapped ground floor space.
